Crown WorkTree Crown Work
Crown thinning
Is to make the crown thinner, as in density by removing dead, weak, crossed, rubbing or overcrowded branches by the selective removal of stems and branches to increase light penetration and air movement throughout the crown of a tree which can also improve the structure of the tree. Crown thinning can enhance a tree’s appearance by creating a more visually balanced crown.
Crown reduction
Complete reduction in the overall size of the tree''s crown by the specialist removal of the outer crown to produce a smaller canopy while maintaining the trees natural shape. Crown reduction pruning is most often used when a tree has grown too large for its permitted space Normal reductions are only between 10 & 30% of the total area of the tree. This process is the preferred method when the canopy has reached to close to a property, structure or power lines or limiting the amount of light to a property
Crown lifting/raising
The specialist removal of the lower branches or limbs to lift the height of the crown. This technique is often used near footpaths and roads to allow safe passage beneath for pedestrians and traffic. This also helps to let more light reach areas beneath the tree.
Crown cleaning/Deadwood removal
The removal of dead, diseased or decaying branches and limbs to reduce the hazard of them falling on to property and the public. Crown cleaning is normally done when there is a real possibility of branches falling, causing accidents or injury, or if diseased branches threaten''s the health of the tree. This process also allows the tree to grow more efficiently. Trees need to be free of any and all potential falling deadwood. Especially in private homes where children play in, under and around trees.
